Another great days racing at Gisborne.
Two new streetstocks joined our club today, Father and son duo of Swanie and Ryan. Two impressive looking BMW streetstocks, and once a few teething problems were sorted, they were having a ball! Callum proved to be Mr Consistent, with a win and three 2nd placings. The 2nz car of Slick's lunched yet again another motor, thats four motors in three meetings now! Dark horses Jono and Rangi now find themselves 1st and 2nd place respectively on the winter series points. Pop had the ex 2nz Mackie chassis going good, and at one point had Callum hooked up going nowhere across the finish line. (and I thought they were team mates??? Hehehehe!) Great to see the class growing.
Stockcars were out to play up today. Slick debuted his new chassis, and with pleasing results, taking two wins, and two minor placings. Some radical changes have made the car alot more user friendly. Jono had the ex Slick 7g chassis, looking the part with flash signage and fancy paint job. Unfortunatley the motor blew in practice, but was out on the track for the final two heats, proving he was prepared to do battle. Riding high over Howards bonnet, he recovered and quickly disposed of Slick in turn three. Paybacks are great!! Ethan had a day to forget, with only getting points for one race. Lets hope the bugs can be ironed out before the NZ's. Callum had two wins and two 2nds, he is quickly becoming the man to beat, maybe one to watch at the nz champs. Hazel managed to get three races in before having to leave early, and had the car hooked up, a 2nd, 3rd and 4th kept the points up. Howard will be heading back to his old set up, found his car out of control today, and battled all day to keep it straight on the track. Still very quick though!
Touring cars were battling again today, with Mike, Bryce and Foong all within a lap or two most races. Bryce's brushless Suzuki is impressive, leaves huge black marks that go the length of the straight from wheel spin!! Foong and Mike both consistent as always. Worthy to note, the quickest lap time today came from Mike, who is running a silver can. Ethan only managed two races today, lets hope the car troubles can be sorted before the next meeting.
Next meeting is the 20th Sept. A shakedown run for the travelling stockcars going to the NZ Champs in Hawkes Bay the following weekend. Don't forget to register on the forum for the meeting.
